Jones and North reflect on Ashes

There were contrasting reactions in the Glamorgan dressing room after England completed their Ashes series victory with a win in the fourth Test at Durham.

"It is lovely and I have really enjoyed it," said Jones, a 2005 Ashes hero.

"To be fair to the Australians they have fought back well and Ryan Harris was outstanding to take seven wickets in an innings.

"Test cricket is all about the Ashes.

"There are always nerves and situations where the game can go either way but England have played better cricket throughout.

"They can go to Australia confident of facing them Down Under.

"At the Oval, I don't see much changing and I think the England bowlers are too strong for the Australian batsmen."

Glamorgan's one-day captain Marcus North, who represented Australia in the two previous Ashes series, was not so happy.

"I thought the Australians were showing some real fight in the last couple of Test matches and it would have been closer," said North.

"The worrying thing is that England probably aren't playing that well and have a couple of guys who are carrying them.

"But they are still 3-0 up and if this England side really clicks it will be very difficult for Australia.

"It is important for the Aussies to fight back at the Oval given there is a series Down Under this week.

"That would give them something to take to the series in a couple of months."

England and Australia will clash in a one-day international at the Swalec Stadium on September 14 and there are still limited tickets available from glamorgancricket.com or by callking 02920 419 311.

Anyone who purchases a ticket for this year's one-day international will be guaranteed the right to buy an Ashes Test ticket when the series returns to Wales in 2015.
