Friday night saw Glamorgan secure their fourth successive victory in this year's Friends Life t20 as they romped to an emphatic nine-wicket victory over Somerset with 28 balls to spare to maintain their unbeaten record.

To the delight of a bumper crowd, the rampant Glamorgan side made it four out of four to record their best-ever sequence of results in the competition, eclipsing their previous best in 2004 when they won five out of six games before being beaten by the Leicestershire Foxes in the semi-finals at Edgbaston.

During July 2004, Glamorgan recorded away wins against the Northants Steelbacks and Somerset, before losing by 26 runs to the Warwickshire Bears at Sophia Gardens. This reversal was then offset by further victories against Gloucestershire and Worcestershire, before a thrilling five-wicket victory over the Bears in the quarter-final at Cardiff.

Glamorgan's razor-sharp fielding and shrewd bowling during the early overs to suffocate the opposition batsmen, have been two of the hallmarks of their record-breaking sequence of victories so far this summer. Indeed, none of the opposition teams have made a decent start so far against Marcus North's team during the powerplay overs.

In the opening game at New Road, Worcestershire were 42/4 when the fielding restrictions were in place. The Warwickshire Bears then made 34/4 at the SWALEC Stadium and 29/3 at Rugby School, whilst in Friday night's game at Cardiff, Somerset had subsided to 23/3 after six overs. In contrast, Glamorgan's six-over scores have been 61/1, 40/2, 50/1 and 51/1 with the Welsh county losing overall just five wickets during the powerplay overs compared with the opposition's total of fourteen
