David Lloyd took the batting honours as Glamorgan 2nd XI's drew with the MCC Young Cricketers at the Newclose Ground on the Isle of Wight with the North Walian making 113 on a rain-affected opening day of their Second Eleven Championship match.

Glamorgan had earlier slipped to 58/3 following the loss of Gareth Rees, Will Bragg and Tom Lancefield before Lloyd, with the support of teenager Aneurin Donald and latterly Andrew Salter, mounted a counter attack with Lloyd posting a forthright century and striking 15 fours before departing after two and three-quarter hours at the crease.

The Welsh county duly ended on 296 with John Glover posting 57. The seamer then showed that he is well on the road to recovery after his finger injury last month in the LV=County Championship match at Bristol by taking 5/82 from 25 overs as the MCC Young Cricketers replied with 348 with Will Root - the brother of Yorkshire and England's Joe - making 165.

In their second innings Glamorgan made 184/4 declared with Tom Lancefield making 74, whilst teenage batsman Aneurin Donald posted an impressive 61.
