Glamorgan are 155/4 when rain ends play early at Canterbury

The Welsh county, who recalled Graham Wagg to their side in place of the injured John Glover, batted first after winning the toss at a blustery and cloudy St. Lawrence ground. They subsequently slipped to 19/2 as a result of a feisty spell by the Kent new ball bowlers, with Callum Haggett having Will Bragg caught behind as well as clean bowling Ben Wright.

Stewart Walters and Marcus North then consolidated the position until, shortly before lunch, the former edged a delivery from Charlie Shreck to wicket-keeper Geraint Jones as Kent claimed a bonus point in the 29th over.

Resuming after lunch on 83/3, Marcus North and Murray Goodwin continued to blunt the predominantly all-seam Kent attack for an hour or so after lunch under in overcast conditions.

Indeed, with cloud levels building up, the floodlights were turned on, but with the total on 123 in the 48th over, North departed as he was caught down the leg-side to give Callum Haggett his third wicket.

Jim Allenby then joined the obdurate Goodwin, but soon afterwards the light continued to deteriorate, and with light rain starting to fall, the umpires took the players off the field and an early tea was taken at 3.10pm.

After an early tea had been taken, play resumed at 4pm, but only five further overs were possible before the rains returned with Glamorgan on 155/4.

There was no let-up in the rainfall and shortly after 5pm the two umpires - Neil Mallemnder and Steve Garratt - called off play for the day.
