After Craig Miles dismissed John Glover and Dean Cosker, Michael Hogan joined Mark Wallace and used the long handle to good effect as he posted a career-best 51 reaching his maiden fifty off 48 balls. After reaching a patient fifty himself, Wallace also opened his shoulders in the closing overs with the Glamorgan captain striking a brace of fours, plus a six against Miles Hammond before being dismissed by David Payne six short of his century

Gareth Roderick and Michael Klinger added 79 for the first wicket, with Glamorgan handicapped by a finger injury to John Glover. Michael Hogan made the breakthrough in the 31st over as he trapped Roderick leg before.

Michael Klinger, after sharing an opening stand of 79, completed a two-hour half-century before taking part in an unbeaten century stand in the post-tea session with Dan Housego which chiselled away at the deficit as the Gloucestershire captain ended the day 80 not out.
