Glamorgan Cricket is delighted to confirm that the initial allocation of tickets for both the India versus South Africa ICC Champions Trophy fixture and this September's England versus Australia NatWest Series One-Day International, have now sold out.
The initial allocation of tickets for the NatWest Series One-Day International between England and Australia have been snapped up well in advance of the date of the game, with the high demand for tickets attributed to Glamorgan's innovative initiative of offering a guaranteed ticket right for the 2015 Cardiff Investec Ashes Test, to any supporter that buy a ticket for either of England's internationals in Cardiff this year.
Although the England v Australia game has sold out, cricket fans still have the opportunity of watching England in Cardiff this year, as tickets for their decisive ICC Champions Trophy group fixture against New Zealand are still available.
As well as the importance of the fixture in the context of the tournament, the tickets for the match on Sunday 16th June, which coincides with Father's Day, are attractively priced, and are also expected to shortly sell out.
Glamorgan can confirm that anyone purchasing a ticket for the England versus New Zealand ICC Champions Trophy fixture will also be entitled to a guaranteed right to buy an Ashes ticket when the series returns to Cardiff in 2015.
England could yet play a third fixture in Wales this year as Cardiff will stage an ICC Champions Trophy semi-final, between the runner up of Pool B (England's group) and the winner of Pool A (India's group). Tickets for this fixture are still available. The team likely to top Pool A may be decided in Cardiff too, with South Africa playing West Indies in the Welsh capital as well as the opening game against India.
2013 sees Glamorgan celebrate its 125th anniversary year and with six days of international cricket in Cardiff, the world's best players will be on show and the Club is delighted with the positive response and high demand from cricket supporters in Wales and the South West.
David Morgan, Glamorgan President said, "The opportunity to stage five prestigious ICC Champions Trophy fixtures in Cardiff is an exciting one. To be able to mark Glamorgan's 125th anniversary, with the world's best in action here, is a real accolade for Wales, and recognition for the successful way international cricket has been staged in Cardiff.
"The fact that Cardiff will host England versus New Zealand during the tournament, 40 years on from when the two teams met in Swansea for the first international cricket match in Wales is also very fitting.
"I'm delighted to confirm two games in Cardiff including the opening Champions Trophy tournament fixture on June 6th have sold out. With two games on weekends and affordable ticket prices for each fixture, I hope the tournament continues to appeal to cricket supporters across Wales and the West."
Alan Hamer, Glamorgan Chief Executive added, "In a summer packed full of cricket, we've ensured that fans across Wales and the South West can enjoy world class cricket at exceptional value. A family of four can enjoy a day of fantastic cricket from just £50."
