Glamorgan Cricket is pleased to confirm that left-arm spinner Dean Cosker has signed a contract extension which will see him stay with the Welsh county until the end of the 2015 season thereby completing 20 years of service for Glamorgan.

Dean claimed his 500th first-class wicket for Glamorgan when he dismissed Sam Northeast of Kent at the SWALEC Stadium last month and joined a list with only 16 others to have reached this milestone in their career.

Dean joined Glamorgan in 1996 with his first match against Lancashire at Cardiff, just a few months after he completed his A-levels at Millfield School and his bright future in the professional game was recognised by the England who selected the left-arm spinner for under-19 tours as well as appearances for England A on tours to East Africa, Sri Lanka, South Africa and Zimbabwe.

He was a member of the Glamorgan side which won the County Championship in 1997, with the left-arm spinner claiming the final wicket of the Welsh county's campaign as they defeated Somerset at Taunton to clinch their third Championship title.

He also tasted success in limited-overs cricket as a member of the Glamorgan side which played in the Yorkshire Bank 40 Final at Lord's this year, as well as reaching the Benson and Hedges Cup Lord's final in 2000, besides being a key figure in the Glamorgan Dragons side which won the National League title in both 2002 and 2004.

Throughout his career Dean has also been an outstanding fielder, especially at backward point, as well as being a useful lower-order batsman. Dean will start the 2014 season with his career tally of wickets amounting to 547 in all first-class matches, plus 308 in one-day and Twenty20 games.

Dean Cosker said, "I love taking wickets for Glamorgan and there is no feeling like it so I'm pleased to commit myself to Glamorgan for another two years. I am a Welsh lad and am proud and honoured to be playing for this Club, which is on the up.

"The appointment of Hugh Morris has played a significant part in this decision. I have huge respect for Hugh and he is highly respected within the game.

"He has been very influential with the way England have been successful over the last few years, so it is exciting times to have a Glamorgan legend back at the Club, to see the young talent coming through and the elements of a good team coming together."
