Glamorgan Cricket has announced that Nick James and Alex Jones will be released by the Club at the end of the current season. Both made their Glamorgan debuts in 2010.
Left-handed batsman and left-arm spin bowler, James, joined Glamorgan following a spell on the staff of Warwickshire when he also played for England Under19s. Nick has enjoyed success at 2nd XI level, scoring a match-winning century recently against Leicestershire 2nd XI at Cardiff CC, but despite appearing in the one-day team in 2012 and this season, he has not secured a regular place in the County Championship team.
Left-arm swing bowler Alex Jones, first appeared against Somerset in the Clydesdale Bank40 match at Taunton in 2010 and was a regular member of the Welsh county's team in the Twenty20 competition in 2011. Injuries over the course of the past few seasons have also affected his progress and restricted his opportunities at 1st XI level, but he appeared in the Friends Life t20 again this summer, and has bowled well for the 2nd XI.
Hugh Morris said, "This is always a difficult time of the season with decisions made regarding which players will remain in the squad.
"Nick and Alex have been pushing for a place in the first -team throughout their time at Glamorgan, but have found their opportunities limited. On behalf of everyone at Glamorgan CCC we thank them for their contribution to the Club and wish them well for their future careers in cricket and beyond."
