Show Racism the Red Card held their first event of the season this week, which was also the first ever event with Glamorgan County Cricket Club. The event was held at the Swalec Stadium during the teams match against Gloucestershire.
Young people from Adamsdown Primary School from Cardiff and Jenner Park Primary School from Barry visited the Welsh Cricket Museum at the stadium for the day to take part in an anti-racism educational workshop. The pupils explored the issues of racism in society and how to deal with these issues through interactive games and discussions.
The pupils spent time during their lunch exploring the museum and learning about the history of Cricket in Wales along with watching some of the match.
In the afternoon Glamorgan Cricket players John Glover, Huw Waters, Michael Reed and Stewart Walters supported the event by taking part in a "role play media conference". The young pupils took on the role of newspaper journalists and asked questions to the players about racism in sport and society. The players shared their experiences of racism and provided advice to the young people and spoke of key messages on how to deal with it.
A pupil from Jenner Park Primary shared their thoughts on the experience: "I really enjoyed visiting the stadium and seeing some of the match. I learnt a lot of things about racism and now know how to stop racism and who to tell if I hear it. I enjoyed listening to the players talk about racism and getting my poster signed."
SRtRC have produced an anti-racism squad poster with the club, which all the pupils were fortunate enough to have signed by the players at the event. The poster can be downloaded at:

Campaign Worker Jason Webber said: "It was fantastic to hold our first event with Glamorgan Cricket and to see the young people so engaged with the players listening to their stories.
