It has been hailed as a triumphant summer for British sport and nowhere is that more evident than at Glamorgan Cricket where annual attendance figures for live cricket in the SWALEC Stadium went through the 100,000 barrier for the first time today

Daniel Thomas, and his dad Ian, from Congleton, Cheshire was the 100,000th cricket fan to come to the stadium in 2013 as England played Australia in the NatWest Series One-Day International in front of a crowd of over 14,000.

Glamorgan's Commercial Director, Simon White, said: "The warm weather, an attractive fixture list of international and domestic matches and strong performances from the Glamorgan team mean that we have welcomed more supporters into the SWALEC Stadium in 2013 than ever before.

"Since the stadium was re-developed in 2008, before the Ashes the following year, international cricket at the venue has seen a dramatic increase in supporter numbers which is extremely heartening, especially given the fact that we are celebrating our 125th anniversary this year."

This season, the Club has seen over 50,000 supporters attend the five ICC Champions Trophy fixtures with another 40,000 having attended Glamorgan's home matches.

These numbers are excluding the number of people that regularly attend corporate, community and public functions at the SWALEC Stadium such as business conferences, Christmas parties, club and school cricket events and community fixtures. With these events included the total number of attendees to the venue per annum swells to over 120,000.

Supporters can register for details about next year's One-Day International, England v India on Wednesday 27 August at the SWALEC Stadium here
