Nick James played the perfect captain's innings as he made 129* to lead Glamorgan 2nd XI to a thrilling four wicket victory over Leicestershire 2nd XI on the final day of their friendly at the Diamond Ground in Cardiff.

Resuming on 122/4 the visitors added a further 105 this morning before leaving Glamorgan their target of 359 to win. James provided the perfect platform for his side's run chase making an unbeaten 129 with fourteen 4's and he received useful support from Andrew Salter who made 60 and Jack Murphy who blasted 41 as the Welsh county romped home in the closing overs.

Yesterday morning, the visitors had declared on their overnight total of 405/3 after centuries from Michael Thornley (147*), Neil Pinner, formerly of Leicestershire (106) and Lewis Hill, the Unicorns wicket-keeper (104*).

In reply, Glamorgan made 274 in 63.3 overs with David Lloyd top-scoring with 78 whilst Andrew Salter chipped in with 42. Salter was then back in the action when Leicestershire batted for a second time with the young off-spinner claiming all four wickets as the East Midlands side ended the day 122/4 with Thornely again unbeaten on 75.
