Match Preview

After their thrilling and nail-biting victory over group leaders Somerset by just one wicket on Monday night at the SWALEC Stadium, Glamorgan - who still have two games in hand over the West Country side - look to further consolidate their position in the group table against a Middlesex side who also won their most recent match by one wicket, defeating the Unicorns at Lord's on Sunday, with the visitors starting Wednesday night's game level on points with the Welsh county but in fourth place in the table by virtue of an inferior run rate.

The Welsh county were victorious earlier in the season when the two sides met at Lord's on May 6th with Marcus North posting a career-best 137* whilst Jim Allenby weighed in with an unbeaten 69 and Will Bragg completed an assertive 62. Michael Hogan and Will Owen then took three wickets apiece as Glamorgan won by 26 runs.

The Middlesex Panthers also nearly lost on Sunday against the Unicorns, but for an undefeated half-century by John Simpson which saw them secure a one-wicket victory in the final over of the contest.

A century from Nick Compton guided Middlesex to victory in their most recent List A match at the SWALEC Stadium, with the visitors winning by 63 runs. Middlesex also completed home and away victories over Glamorgan in List A matches in 2007, winning at Lord's in May by six runs and at Ebbw Vale in July by 89 runs.

A similar pattern occurred in the matches in both 2005 and 2009, with Glamorgan's last home victory in a List A encounter coming on September 16th, 2001 when they won at Sophia Gardens by 40 runs after Robert Croft had posted 114, Steve James had made 93, and Andrew Davies had taken 3/36.
