Glamorgan v Northamptonshire - team news and match preview

After their excellent performance at Swansea, Glamorgan travel to the East Midlands to meet Northamptonshire in the LV=County Championship as the Welsh county play a four-day contest at the Wantage Road ground which is scheduled to start on Wednesday, August 28th at 11am.

Glamorgan won by three wickets when they visited Northampton last summer, with a composed innings by Jim Allenby, plus a breezy knock by John Glover, seeing the Welsh county home as they successfully chased a stiff target of 351 on the final day of the contest


This was Glamorgan's first Championship success at Northampton since 2003 and ended a sequence of four heavy defeats in their previous six visits to the East Midlands ground. In all, Northamptonshire won by 168 runs in 2006, by ten wickets in both 2007and 2010 and by an innings and 77 runs in 2011.


The two sides have already met each other this year in Championship cricket with the contest at the SWALEC Stadium back on April 10th ending in a draw after Graham Wagg and Mike Reed had each claimed three wickets in the Northants first innings following Glamorgan's dismissal for just 134.


Team News

With Michael Hogan being rested, Glamorgan add Mike Reed and John Glover to the remaining players who were in the team which defeated Leicestershire at Swansea last Saturday in a 12-man squad to play Northamptonshire. The Glamorgan squad in full is - WD Bragg, GP Rees, MW Goodwin, BJ Wright, CB Cooke, J Allenby, MA Wallace (capt), JC Glover, GG Wagg, AG Salter, DA Cosker and MT Reed.
