Derbyshire defeated Glamorgan by just ten runs on the final day of their rain-affected Second Eleven Championship match at Derby.

After the washout of the second day of the contest, Glamorgan declared on their overnight 8/0, before Derbyshire forfeited their second innings leaving Glamorgan the target of 324.

The visitor's then slipped to 57/3 before a fight-back was lead by David Lloyd (50) and Ruadhri Smith (51). Andrew Salter arrived at the wicket with the total on 162/5 and continued the good work with stout support from wicket-keeper Gary Knight.

But with the total on 290 the valiant Salter was dismissed by Wes Durston who two runs later also dismissed Alex Jones as the complexion of the game dramatically changed back in the home side's favour.

Ten runs later, Durston made another decisive blow as he had Knight caught for 32, before teenager Kieran Bull struck three defiant fours. But with the total on 313, Durston struck again as he dismissed Harry Powell to give Derbyshire a narrow victory.

On the opening day of the game, Derbyshire 2nd XI had declared on 331/9. After Mike Reed and Alex Jones had each claimed an early wicket, it was the spin of Salter that was to the fore as the young off-spinner took 4/102 with Scott Elstone and Tom Knight offering some resistance before Harry Powell gained a couple of late scalps before the home side declared.
