Glamorgan Cricket have today declared the recent ICC Champions Trophy a commercial success after announcing that over 50,000 tickets were sold for the five tournament matches held in Cardiff.

Glamorgan's Chief Executive, Alan Hamer said: "It was honour for the Club to have been chosen as one of three host venues and over the past few weeks, we've been privileged to have witnessed the world's best cricketers in action. All of the matches in Cardiff were exciting and importantly, well attended - those that purchased tickets will long remember the fantastic atmosphere inside the ground.

"Research from ticket buyers has suggested that over 75% of those that attended the Champions Trophy fixtures had not previously been to the ground and this provides Glamorgan with a real opportunity to build up support for domestic cricket games at the venue as well as future internationals. "

In September the SWALEC Stadium will stage the England versus Australia NatWest Series One-Day International, as well as an England versus India One-Day International next year and an Investec Ashes Test match in 2015.

Glamorgan have also today announced the release of the final allocation of tickets for the England versus Australia NatWest Series One-Day International on 14th September, 2013. With over 12,000 tickets already sold, there is limited availability in all price categories and the remaining tickets are expected to be snapped up over the coming weeks. All ticket holders that attend this match will receive priority booking rights for the 2015 Ashes Test match at the SWALEC Stadium.

The ICC Champions Trophy matches have also swelled interest in Glamorgan's upcoming T20 matches with advance sales at record levels.

Hamer added: "Without doubt, the recent ICC Champions Trophy matches coupled with Glamorgan's much improved performances in one-day cricket this season, have certainly captured the Welsh public's attention.

"We took the decision at the start of the season to incentivise people to purchase their T20 tickets in advance by offering significant discounts ahead of match days and we've been delighted with the positive response.

"With ticket sales swiftly increasing, there is every chance that the attendance for the match against Somerset on Friday 12th July, might surpass the previous record T20 attendance at the SWALEC Stadium."
