Following a hugely successful opening day of the ICC Champions Trophy tournament in Cardiff, as the home of Glamorgan Cricket played host to a 26-win India victory over South Africa, Chief Executive Alan Hamer gives his comments on the day.
Alan Hamer said: "It was fantastic today - a sell out crowd, good weather and a good game its all we could have hoped for.
"It was quite noisy, probably 90% Indian crowd and they were great supporters for their team
"Its important for us to host events like this, as if we impress in the eyes of ICC and ECB we're likely to be looked at favourably when future games are allocated.
"The England - New Zealand game is likely to sell out very soon and the semi final after today will also go quickly with a lot of India supporters looking for tickets as if their team tops the group they will be back in Cardiff and we've got two more games that showcase the best in world cricket.
"For the game on Sunday I hope people will come out, it's another good forecast and you have the likes of Dilshan, Malinga, Guptil and McCullum and then Chris Gayle and co return to play South Africa here, and the South Africans will have to win that game to stay in the competition."
On Twitter there were many favourable comments about the opening game from the media and supporters in Cardiff, and Down Under:
