Glamorgan 2nd XI won both of their games against Warwickshire 2nd XI at Cardiff CC in the Second Eleven t20 competition
In the first contest, Glamorgan won by 8 runs after posting 154/3 in their 20 overs with Gareth Rees top-scoring with 66 from 58 balls after being put in to bat. Aneurin Donald also made 30 before Nick James and David Lloyd each claimed an early wicket. Sean Griffiths also completed an accurate four over spell taking 2/17, whilst Andrew Salter also took two wickets as the visitors slipped to 108/9. their last wicket pair then made a spirited attempt to reach the target by Lloyd held his nerve in the final over as Warwickshire ended on 146/9.
Warwickshire won the toss as well in the second game and again opted to bowl first, reducing Glamorgan to 11/2 in the 3rd over. Lloyd then took the score to 44 before becoming the first of two wickets for Tom Allin - son of former Glamorgan spinner Tony - as the Welsh county stuttered to 53/5. But Stewart Walters and Rhodri Evan then steadied the ship with Walters posting 50 off 42 balls to take his side to 142./5 at the end of 20 overs.
The visitors then lost three early wickets as they reached 67/3 at the halfway stage before Tom Milnes upped the tempo with a trio of sixes, as together with Sam Hain he reduced the equation to 27 from the last four overs. But Griffiths then had Milnes stumped by Tom Baker, before removing Hain, Allin and Tom Burton in his final over to end with the commendable figures of 4/28 as the pendulum swung back in Glamorgan's favour. Eleven were needed from the final over from James, but this proved to be too much as Warwickshire ended on 135/8 to give Glamorgan a thrilling victory by 7 runs.
