Wales lose to Berkshire by eight runs

Wales Minor Counties lost by eight runs in their MCCA Trophy match against Berkshire at Mumbles CC , despite a haul of 4/44 by teenage seam bowler Jack Murphy..

Batting first at the Marespool ground, Berkshire made 177 in 49.3 overs with Ruadhri Smith taking 3/35 and Jack Murphy (seen above) 4/44.


Wales then slumped to 40/4 as former Hampshire, Surrey and Northamptonshire seamer Richard Logan claimed early wickets. Rhodri Evans led the recovery with the opener making 43, whilst wicket-keeper Tom Baker made 26.


Captain Darren Thomas, also weighed in with an unbeaten 30 but the former Glamorgan all-rounder could not quite see his side to their victory target as Wales were dismissed for 169 in the 47th over.
