On an exciting night, with 8 teams vying for the title, Cardiff Met were crowned Glamorgan Indoor League Champions.
Cardiff Met defeated a very game Cardiff Gymkhana in the final, becoming the third winners of the league which has been running since 2010.
The league began with 18 teams and was whittled down to the top 8 teams after the initial group stages. The final 8 teams were; Cardiff University, Cardiff Met, Cardiff Gymkhana, Newport CC, Radyr CC, St Fagans CC, Roath CC and Pentyrch CC.
The Quarter-finals, Semi-finals and the Final all took place on a tense evening of many twists and turns. In the battle to reach the semi-finals Cardiff Met beat Newport off the penultimate ball, St Fagans beat Radyr off the final ball, Gymkhana edged out 2011 winners Pentyrch in the final over and defending Champions Cardiff Uni amply beat Roath.
At the semi-final stage, Cardiff Met beat St Fagans rather comfortably despite a couple of interesting moments from the defeated side. The shock of the night came in a titanic struggle between defending Champions Cardiff Uni and Cardiff Gymkhana. Defending 76, Cardiff Uni could not get the last man out and Gymkhana reached their total with only a few balls to spare, winning by 1 wicket.
The final turned out to be a little one sided as Gymkhana showed the effects of two tough previous games. With Gymkhana only managing 67 runs from 10 overs, Cardiff Met knocked them off without losing a wicket to achieve a thoroughly deserved win.
Congratulations to Cardiff Met who remained undefeated throughout the competition and who now go through to the Welsh Indoor Championships next winter.
Glamorgan would like to thank all teams who took part in the League and to wish all clubs the best of luck in the 2013 Cricket Season.
