Following Glamorgan's opening day victory in limited overs cricket in 2013, Marcus North gives his reflections on the win against Yorkshire Vikings at Colwyn Bay
"Despite the sunshine the conditions were still tricky out there for batsmen and bowlers, there was a very strong breeze going to one end.
"I said to the batting group we've done our job today that 's the kind of performance we talk about at batting meetings. We started well and we got guys in the middle contributing, it would have been nice to push to 300 but we got 285 which I thought was going to be very competitive.
"With the bowling side I'm proud of the character the guys showed, it was very difficult bowling into the breeze and against an extremely strong batting line up of Yorkshire and a line up that's in form with a number of internationals in their side so I asked the bowling group to show character and fight and no one turned their back today.
As captain that's all you can ask for. You can't execute every ball that's difficult and against good players as well, but after the real hard loss we had against Lancashire its good to be standing here with a win.
It was good to get a couple of early wickets, that's always important in one-day cricket, to hold up the scoreboard for a little bit was important.
"The first eight to ten overs probably won us the game. They built beautifully Balance and Gale really got a partnership going and they were cruising to having a solid go in the last 10, especially with Bairstow coming in and he really got going, so he was probably going to be their match winner for them, but we got wickets at the right time.
"It was just one of those games were runs on the board puts pressure on an opposition, they have to keep going all the way through so we took wickets at the right time that enabled us to keep hold of the match and it was so pleasing for the boys to get the win early."
