A century by Rhodri Evans and a four-wicket haul by Kieran Bull helped Wales Minor Counties to maintain their decent start to the 2013 season by winning a high-scoring game against Staffordshire in the MCCA Trophy at Cresselly by two runs at the Pembrokeshire ground.

After Wales had opted to bat first, opening batsman Rhodri Evans posted a superb 128 from 144 balls to lay the foundations of what proved to be a match-winning total. He received useful support from the two Griffiths - Sean and Alex - who each made half-centuries as the youthful Welsh side ended on 293/6 at the end of their 50 overs.

Staffordshire's run chase was held in check by opening bowler Dan Lewis-Williams who ended with figures of 3/46 from his ten overs, including the vital scalp of opening batsman Kadeer Ali who made 75 before being caught by Jack Murphy.

The visitors late charge towards the target was then thwarted by spinner Kieran Bull with the youngster, who is a member of the Glamorgan Academy, taking 4/54 from his nine overs as Staffordshire ended on 291/8 to give Darren Thomas' team another rousing victory.
