David Lloyd (99) took the batting honours in the rain-affected draw between Glamorgan 2nd XI and Gloucestershire 2nd XI at Spytty Park in Newport.

The assertive batsman was dismissed one run short of a century on the opening day as he became one of five victims for former Lancashire seam bowler Steve Cheetham as Glamorgan, after opting to bat first, made 236 in 70.2 overs.

In reply, Gloucestershire amassed 332/5 on a rain-affected second day with Gareth Roderick unbeaten on 174 and Will Tavare posting 78. For Glamorgan both Simon Jones and Alex Jones each claimed two wickets.

Just an hours play was possible on day three with Roderick falling early to Alex Jones who took two further wickets to finish with figures of 5/91 as Gloucestershire ended on 376-9.

However, after an early lunch was taken the rain was still falling and the contest was abandoned as a draw by umpires Alex Wharf and Will Smith at 2.30pm.
