As Glamorgan County Cricket Club's 125th anniversary year draws to a close, a specially commissioned documentary celebrating the club is set to be released.
Filmed by Simon Bartlett, and narrated by Andrew Hignell, the documentary is a celebration of the Welsh county's history, tracing the evolution of the Club from it's formation in 1888, it's earliest years as a Minor County and then from 1921, the high's and low's of life as a first-class county.
Thanks to BBC Wales, Merlin and Sky Sports, the documentary also contains film footage from some of the great moments in the Club's history including the three Championship titles, victories in the one-day competitions, and finals at Lord's plus the back-to-back victories over the Australians in 1964 and 1968. The documentary also draws upon the Club's outstanding archive of photographs, as well as using extracts from special interviews undertaken in the past year with a number of the Club's players.
The documentary is arranged in a series of chapters which, decade by decade, trace the rich history of Glamorgan CCC, and during the course of the winter months, a new chapter will be added. The documentary also starts with an evocative introduction, summing up in the words of the players - both past and present - what it means to play for Wales' only first-class county.
