Glamorgan 2nd XI lost their Second Eleven Trophy contest against Worcestershire 2nd XI at the Diamond Ground in Cardiff by four wickets.
Put on to bat, Glamorgan nosedived to 28/6 as Nick Harrison, Naqaash Tahir and Josh Bowker all claimed a pair of wickets apiece. South African-born Conor Gallagher then led a recovery with 24, whilst Alex Jones, and his namesake Simon each made 13. Huw Waters was also unbeaten on 13 as the final Glamorgan wicket tumbled in the 34th over with the Welsh county on just 94.
Simon Jones then struck with the first ball of the innings, before Michael Johnson led a ferocious counter-attack, with the wicket-keeper striking Waters for six boundaries in quick succession as Worcestershire raced to the half-century mark.
But the complexion of the game then changed as 50/1 became 59/5 as Simon Jones added three more scalps. The former England pace bowler ended with figures of 4/18 from his six overs, whilst Will Owen and Alex Jones each claimed a wicket apiece as the Worcestershire lower order guided their side to victory ending on 98/6 in the 19th over.
