As the Club posted their largest-ever victory by runs in the Twenty20 competition, Graham Wagg rewrote the record books as he produced the best-ever bowling return for the Welsh county, taking 5/14 as Glamorgan overwhelmed Worcestershire at New Road, with the team producing a compelling statement of intent with a superlative win by 58 runs under the Duckworth-Lewis Method.

Wagg's career-best bowling spell came after Chris Cooke had blasted a rip-roaring fifty from just 23 balls - the second fastest for the Club in the 20-overs competition, and bettered only by the 18-ball fifties posted by Brendon McCullum and James Franklin on successive evenings back in 2006 at Cardiff and Edgbaston respectively

With Worcestershire chasing a revised target of 161 from their fourteen overs, Thilan Samaraweera and Moeen Ali started positively but the complexion of the game dramatically changed as Wagg came on to bowl in the fourth over with Worcestershire already on 34. With his second delivery he saw Moeen spoon a ball to cover before Samaraweera chipped the next delivery to backward point. Gareth Andrew then attempted an expansive drive to the fifth ball of the over only to have his stumps re-arranged by the delighted all-rounder who now boasted the figuress of 1-0-3-3.

Dean Cosker then replaced Wagg at the Diglis End and as further wickets tumbled to the Glamorgan's spinners, the task of keeping up with an ever-rising run rate was well beyond the scope of the home side's lower order. Wagg duly returned in the 12th over with the Midlands county on 88/7 and in the space of five balls he dismissed both Ben Cox and Shaikh Choudhry who each fell to good catches in the deep as Michael Hogan and Cooke safely pouched the ball in the near stygian gloom.

This meant Wagg now had figures of 2-0-6-5 and, with the last pair of Jack Shantry and Chris Russell at the crease, the effervescent all-rounder had a chance of coming very close to Arul Suppiah's competition-best figures of 6/5 taken against Glamorgan at the SWALEC Stadium in 2011.

But the last pair held out as Wagg ended with figures of 5/14 beating Ryan Watkins' haul of 5/16 against Gloucestershire at the SWALEC Stadium in 2009. But nevertheless, Glamorgan still recorded their largest-ever victory batting first in 20 overs cricket with the 58-run margin under the Duckworth-Lewis Method beating the 56-run defeat of Worcestershire at Sophia Gardens in 2003 - the inaugural year of the all-action competition.
